Every year, the Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America team up to host the National Veterans Wheelchair Games. And this year, Toyota is the host of this wheelchair multi-sport event.
In their 36th year, these annual games take place to give veterans a chance to get out and get active! More than 600 participants took place in this year’s games, which occurred in Salt Lake City in late June. Another fun fact – these games are the world’s largest annual wheelchair multi-sport event!
This isn’t Toyota’s first year sponsoring these games. It’s actually their 17th year participating. They get to cheer on veterans as they compete in 19 different events. These include sports like handcycling, quad rugby, swimming, basketball, and archery.
A word from our VP
“We are honored to sponsor the 36th National Veterans Wheelchair Games and celebrate the brave men and women who have served their country in the name of freedom,” said Simon Nagata, executive vice president and chief administrative officer.
Toyota will host the table tennis and track events. They will also provide a complimentary fleet of vehicles for the staff of the games. A wheelchair-accessible Toyota Sienna was also donated to the Paralyzed Veterans of America headquarters.
