“Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?”
SpongeBob Highlander: Tanked Edition!
Well, it’s more like the sea lives inside this animated crossover. Still, we at Hurlbert Toyota think this customized 2014 Highlander is a spot-on rendition of the popular children’s television show, and we think SpongeBob would agree.
Toyota collaborated with Nickelodeon and Animal Planet’s “Tanked” stars, Wayde King and Brett Raymer to create this real-life version of Bikini Bottom for the 2013 SEMA Show.
Most notable of its modifications, instead of third-row seating, the SpongeBob Highlander received an aquarium supplied with saltwater and 32 aquatic species including a look-alike of SpongeBob’s starfish best friend, Patrick.
Along with the tank, experts installed a custom-built filtration system. One of its components was an overflow system, a wise addition.
The SpongeBob Highlander: Tanked Edition is now on its way to an auto show in Los Angeles, and Animal Planet will debut the Highlander during a “Tanked” episode in March 2014.
“We hope fans across the country will enjoy this new take on the 2014 SpongeBob Highlander,” said Pam Kaufman, chief marketing officer for the Nickelodeon Group. “With the addition of this amazing new aquarium created by the incredible team at Animal Planet’s ‘Tanked,’ fans will get an opportunity to experience SpongeBob SquarePants’ Bikini Bottom like never before.”
