2018 Toyota Yaris Hatchback

2018 Toyota Yaris Hatchback

The New York International Auto Show sees two Toyota debuts in April. Toyota is holding the new 2018 Sienna and Yaris Hatchback debuts at the show, two opposite-sized hatchbacks that have their great looks, practicality, and smart features in common.

The 2018 Yaris Hatch brings a sportier style for the model year, with a new front fascia and grille with chrome accents, a piano black mesh grille for the SE trim, and a restyled rear-end to complement the front-end updates. The Yaris also gets plenty of updates to its interior, with new audio features, an ECO driving indicator, and a standard Entune Multimedia bundle.

The 2018 Sienna improves even further on the much-improved 2017 Sienna with styling updates and technology additions. Toyota Safety Sense P will be standard on the new Sienna and will include a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and more. The Sienna will also come standard with an enhanced Entune 3.0 multimedia system with App Suite Connect and available 4G LTE.

For many car shoppers, safety is a top priority. And, with so much advanced technology, cars are safer than ever. That is why the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) scores individual models on numerous safety attributes to help discerning shopper find the best of the best.

The IIHS has two levels of safety awards: Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+. To earn the Top Safety Pick accolade, a vehicle has to achieve the top Good rating in all crash tests. In addition, it has to earn an Advanced or Superior rating for front crash prevention technology.

Toyota’s Top Safety Picks this year include the Toyota Yaris iA and Avalon.

To earn a Top Safety Pick+ rating, a vehicle also has to achieve a Good or Acceptable rating for its headlights. This year, Toyota brought home five Top Safety Pick+ honors. These models include the Toyota Prius v, Camry, RAV4, Prius, and Corolla.

Ever since the IIHS introduced its Top Safety Pick awards in 2006, Toyota has worked hard to make sure as many of its models are eligible for this award as it can. The Top Safety Pick+ designation was introduced in 2013 to give the best of the best their own category.

Come check out all of these excellent and safe Toyota models today at Hurlbert Toyota.

Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Motor Corp is reportedly looking to expand its manufacturing productions by constructing two new automotive plants in Mexico and China. For the past several years, the car company has focused on developing manufacturing equipment and technological engineering to improve efficiency of existing plants.

However, the demand for production in the U.S. is starting to increase, thus ending a three-year freeze due to economic decline, therefore the company will allegedly invest a total of $1.3 billion after receiving the go-ahead from Toyota President Akio Toyoda. “We are gradually starting to witness the next stage for new plants,” Mr. Toyoda told investors last month. He said the company had to make a “sweeping change” to “make our plants competitive, instead of merely pursuing volume.”

With just over 10 million Toyota units sold in 2014, it is projected that the two new plants will increase Toyota’s production capacity by nearly 300,000 cars. The Mexican plant, most likely to be located in Guanajuato, is projected to produce 200,000 units of the next-generation Corolla, scheduled to arrive in the North American market in 2019. The China plant, to be located in Guangzhou, is estimated to produce 100,000 Yaris subcompacts starting in 2018.

It’s an exciting time with the Toyota plant expansion, so be sure to stay tuned to Hurlbert Toyota for the latest news.

Toyota Yaris

The Toyota Yaris was in need of a makeover, and now, for the 2014 model year, it’s finally gotten it. The 2014 Yaris gets a facelift as well as a general redesign, making it a sportier and more attractive car to the hip and youthful subcompact market. The new Yaris sports a more aggressive grille as well as an overall more interesting design that takes some hints from the fashion-conscious Toyota Aygo.

The fun continues on the interior, which features an all-new dashboard as well as a redesigned center console complete with a seven-inch screen as an interface for the Toyota Touch 2 infotainment system. For 2014, the Yaris drops the four-door option and instead offers either three door or five door models of the L and LE grades. The SE grade, the sportiest Yaris trim, comes only as a five door model.

Each 2014 Yaris is equipped with a 1.5L four-cylinder engine that pumps out 106 horsepower and 103 lb-ft of torque while still providing owners with an exception 37 mpg highway rating. If you’re in the market for a slick new subcompact, and if you’re looking for vehicles from the world’s most trusted auto brand, come see us at Hurlbert Toyota to test drive the Yaris today.
