TRD Pro Trucks

The pickup truck segment is ripe for off-roading, thanks to the class’s combination of capability and power. With entries in the off-road pickup class such as the Ford F-150 Raptor and Chevy Colorado ZR2, even the big names in the segment are cashing in on the niche. However, nobody does recreational, all-terrain trucks like Toyota, and the brand brought their full lineup of TRD Pro trucks (that’s “Toyota Racing Development”) to the Chicago Auto Show recently to show off its upcoming 2019 selection.

Three different vehicles in Toyota’s model lineup got the TRD Pro treatment: the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner. 2019 TRD Pro models will come with brand-new Fox Racing internal-bypass shock absorbers, which Toyota reps claim pairs the TRD Pro models’ trail-ready performance with a more smooth and enjoyable driving experience. The new models will also get exclusive tires in addition to a unique new feature – a snorkel – which will make fording through bodies of water easier than ever.

Cosmetic touches to the 2019 TRD Pro trucks include TRD badging, unique exhaust systems, and a roof rack on the 4Runner.

Toyota’s new models will be available in showrooms in fall of 2018, so keep an eye out for us here at Hurlbert Toyota. Don’t hesitate to call or contact us for more information.

Increase Your Visibility in Winter Driving

Increase Your Visibility in Winter Driving

Poor visibility is often the cause of automobile accidents, especially during the winter. When roads are already slick, it’s imperative that drivers can see one another well. If you find you’re having trouble getting a clear view during the snowy season, read on to learn three tips for increasing your vehicle’s visibility in winter driving.

Clear Snow Completely

When it’s freezing cold outside, scraping your car is no fun. Still, it’s important to clear off more than just the windshield. You should be sure to brush off all of the snow from the roof of your car, as well as the hood and the headlights, to prevent snow from blowing onto either your windows or the vehicles around you.

Change Wiper Blades

Changing your wiper blades is an easy DIY task that can make a big difference in visibility. You can also swap out your normal wiper fluid for winter wiper fluid for an edge against the ice.

Check Your Headlights

You want to be sure that you clear snow and ice off of your headlights, but also make sure that your headlights are new and shining brightly. Doing so will help other drivers see your vehicle, as well as letting you see them.

If you’re not sure whether your vehicle is set up for the best winter performance, stop in at Hurlbert Toyota and our team will be happy to give your car a winter check up.

Toyota Supra Spy Shots

Toyota Spy Shots

Enthusiasts everywhere have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on the brand-new, upcoming Toyota Supra, the result of a partnership between Toyota and famed performance brand BMW. However, until now, information has been limited, with only foggy glimpses of camouflaged test cars giving fans and experts alike a closer look at the vehicle. However, recent Toyota Supra spy shots have given enthusiasts their clearest and most comprehensive look at the revived nameplate yet.

A photographer over at AutoBlog managed to nab a shot of the still camouflaged, but much more visible Supra parked at a fueling station. Design elements easily seen in the photos include a clamshell hood with two large air intakes on a smooth, pointed grille. Most of the design is exclusive to the Supra as well, though styling cues have been taken from the Z5. Experts speculate that the hood is hiding a six-cylinder turbocharged engine.

It’s likely that some elements of the Supra’s design as depicted in the Toyota Supra spy shots will be smoothed out and changed before it comes out for the 2019 model year, but this is the latest that we know at the moment.

Make sure you head to Hurlbert Toyota to get your hands on it as soon as it comes out!

unique uses for honey - smore's with honey marshmallows

Honey is a delicious, wonderfully sweet, natural food that is a great addition to a cup of tea, bowl of oatmeal, and other foods. But, did you know there are a lot of other ways to use honey? Here are five unique uses for honey for you to try during Honey Month in September.

  1. Sore throat remedy. Instead of taking traditional cough syrup, try a concoction of honey, fresh lemon juice, and hot water to soothe an aching throat. Aside from the soothing effects, honey has natural antibacterial qualities to help boost your immune system.
  2. Baking alternative. Swap out refined sugar for honey. You’ll need less honey to make your dish just as sweet, and you’ll gain its natural antioxidants.
  3. Boost before a workout. Take down a tablespoon of honey before a workout to help boost your performance.
  4. Preserve fruit. Mix one part honey with 10 parts water to create a “honey sauce.” Fill a jar with your favorite summer fruits, add the honey sauce, seal the jar, and open in the winter to enjoy a preserved summer treat.
  5. Make marshmallows. Yes, you can make your own marshmallows. Use this recipe for fluffy goodness sweetened with honey.

What is your favorite way to use honey?
