August is here, but that doesn’t mean you have to waste the rest of your summer. Take one last day trip to the beach and embark on a adventure to Appledore Island, just a half hour outside of Epping. Located among the Isles of Shoals off the coast of Maine and New Hampshire, Appledore Island walking tours continue throughout August and welcome guests aboard a ferry out to the beauty of this idyllic island.
What do the tours include?
The tour departs from the UNH Pier at 10:00 AM on any of the chosen dates (make sure to register in advance, however, as tickets are selling fast). Children must be at least 10 to come along, with ticket prices coming out to $50 per adult and $40 per child. The tour itself consists of guided, educational experiences in which guests will learn about the importance of fishing among the Shoals Isles and the natural flora and fauna which live on the island. You’ll even get to visit the Shoals Marine Lab and view microorganisms underneath a microscope.
The Appledore Island walking tours span several miles of wild terrain and last for several hours, so make sure you keep water on you and pack a big lunch. You certainly won’t want to miss having a picnic lunch on the acres of scenic ocean views and natural beauty the island provides you.
